Topic: The Chew Beats AMC in Viewers

Topic Posted by: Brian Frons

Additional Comments: In the most recent ratings, The Chew actually beat the number of viewers that AMC had in the same week a year ago.  ABC is gloriously happy right now.

If you don't have anything bad to say about The Spew don't say anything at all. I can't believe anybody wants to watch this garbage. They talk with their mouths full of food. What has the world come to?

  • I read that Dr. Oz's daughter has her hair hanging in the food. MM

Oh give me a break Frons, it was only because it was Thanksgiving week and there were NO soaps on for 2 days.  Either way, your THE SPEW show still sucks and is for morons like you who don't already know that delicious means delicious!  FRONS IS AN IDIOT!

  • Before spewing hate, you should get the facts, please. The ratings in question were for the week BEFORE Thanksgiving. Not Thanksgiving week. Oh, and also, The Chew has increased its ratings every single week for the last 7 weeks. The show is a hit.
  • I think you meant to say the show is a $hit
  • The word of a troll? Seriously? The show isn't and never will be a hit. The hosts are hideously unappealing.eom/ECT
  • Of course, the week before Thanksgiving would also get better ratings, pple are plng their cooking/decorating. Wait till all the holidays are over to see if ratings stay high.
  • The one with the orange clogs is repulsive. The grinning one just seems dimwitted along with the one who needs Zoloft and the one whose hair gets in the food. (I saw part of an episode and that's my observance of the hosts).

You also have to consider that it is holiday season, which would make it a good time for shows like the Chew that emphasize cooking, decorating, etc.  The test will be after the new year.  Still, I would guess ABC would call it a success based on how cheaply it will be to produce compared to the soaps.

Watching hair grow would have attracted more of an audience than AMC had in the last year!  The Chew isn't beating the numbers AMC had even 5 yrs ago.  ABC is happy because they have lowered their standards so far that a snake would have to crawl OVER them.  ABC could care less.  They don't care if the audience is made up of former soap fans (even though they've de-valued us at every turn) or new to daytime.  All they care about is that P&G is still the biggest advertiser & that they have something cheaper to produce, w/a disposable cast.  If this cast doesn't work out, or they think has 'run their course', they'll replace them.

Yeah, The Chew is already a success, and it's been on the air for less than two months. I guess a lot of former AMC viewers are watching it, or it's bringing in new viewers. Either way, ABC has to be pleased.

    Series high in viewers

  • ABC knew what they were doing when they cancelled these soaps. Frons and Sweeney probably got raises out of this.
  • Not bloody likely troll. Why would anyone waste their time spewing crap on a defunct soap board? Only an anon looking to stir. eom

  • Well its true. The Chew even beat GH in the most recent ratings in terms of total number of viewers.
  • I don't know who could be watching it, I doubt many AMC fans are watching it. I heard it was really bad, must be a lot of people that can only get one channel (ABC) on their TV and are desparate. /goldie
  • Undoubtedly, the people who are watching are all the people who don't watch soap operas, and there are millions of them.
