Additional Comments: I read One for the Money today. I had planned to clean my home and spend the day doing housework. However, I could not do it because they are doing construction across the street from me. The noise was so loud with that Caterpillar machine thingy. How can I possibly do housework with all of that noise???

What else could I do but read a book?

I was thinking that I should go back and read them since it's been years!  Unfortunately, I don't have them (we'd all pass them around) and I'm not sure I want to purchase them at this point!

Anyway, I can't remember the specifics of One for the Money, but keep reading!  They are very quick, easy reads, but HILARIOUS. Grandma Mazur was always my favorite. This is one of the few books (series, really) that made me laugh out loud.  Like I said in another post, I can't remember which number I stopped at because they did sort of go down hill, but like vh said, 1-10 (at least) are fun reads!

You'll have to come back after you've read a few to let us know what you think -- and if you're a Joe Girl or a Ranger Girl! ;)

  • Thanks, Piper, I can see myself changing to being a Ranger fan. He was Professor Higgins to Eliza Dolittle. LOL. Holly

Good for you Holly!!   I hope you go on to read more of them.  One was just ok, but it did set up and establish the characters for the rest of the series.  Book 2 has the most hilarious scene in a funeral home with Steph and Grandma Mazur.  You won't BELIEVE what Grandma does!  One my of favorite LOL moments from the series ever.  And it will take you a good 5 or 6 books to decide if you are Team Joe or Team Ranger.  By the end of book one, I had already gone from Team Joe over to Team Ranger and I'm still there all the way.  I can't imagine anything changing my mind.  They are all mostly good read, very light and quick and always some good LOL moments.  I started reading Janet Evanovich when she wrote dime romances for Loveswept and I loved her writing back then.  Her romances always had humor and I liked that.  When I saw One For The Money in the bookstore, I bought it on her name alone and that was long before the series was a hit.  I passed that book around to a lot of people and converted a lot of people to the world of Plum.  Welcome to the dark side!  LOL, please let us know if you read any more of them and what you think.

  • Patem, I'm glad to know that Stephanie Plum has other options. Ranger was not really the romantic counterpart in the book one. Glad to know that it changes. Holly

    LOL, Holly!

Although, when I could still see to read, all that noise would've been distracting to me and housework would have been the only option!

So, what did you think? Did you enjoy it? Or not so much?

  • vh, i have to admit that I will use any excuse not to do housework. At first, I had trouble getting into the book but then I got hooked. I thought that Joe Morelli was a total jerk but then he showed his soft side towards Stephanie Plum. Then I liked him better. Stephanie Plum is an interesting heroine. By the end of the book, I liked her and Joe Morelli. Holly
  • the good news is that you have at least ten+ good books ahead of you! y'know, the part that always gets to me (not in a good way!) is the story about Joe making her play train with him when they were six years old... :) I saw the trailer for the movie for the first time yesterday and Katherine Heigl (spelling!) didn't bother me, so I'll give it a chance when I find someone else interested in seeing it. When you've got several books under your belt, we'll have to see if you are a Joe or a Ranger fan. =) vh
