Additional Comments: Well, this will probably be my last post here for a while. I won't be posting as often. I go back to school next week. I'm taking visual arts and western civilization 2. Thought we would start the New Year with another fun topic.

1) What was your favorite subjects in school?/Least favorite?

2) Did you do anything fun for New Year's Eve?

3) What would you like to accomplish this year?

4) Do you have a CD player in your car? If so what CD is in there?

5) What is your favorite radio station?

6) What is your favorite snack food?

7) Is there any food that you like that other people might find gross or unappealing?

My answers:

1) My favorite subjects are art and history. My least favorite is algebra(not because I think it is a bad subject but because I am not good at it), and psychology.

2)Didn't get to do anything fun for New Year's. I worked till 9 and went home and had a 24 oz can of Colt 45 Blast.

3)This year I would like to get accomplished doing well in my classes. Hopefully I can get a couple more A's. I would like to get another tattoo, next week I am going. I would like to be able to hurt myself less when I get upset. If I can do all those things that would be great.

4)I have a CD player in my car(it is so nice to have one, my old car had a broken cassette player). Right now I have Snoop Dogg in my CD player.

5) My favorite radio is 88.7 FM WCSF. It's a local college station run by the students. They play a variety of stuff, alternative, rock, metal or whatever they feel like playing.

6)My favorite snack food is cottage cheese(I could eat that out of the carton) or chips and salsa.

7)There are a couple foods that I like that others think are gross but they don't know what they're missing. I like cottage cheese, sour kraut, and horse radish. Why a lot of people don't like it I don't know. It's good stuff!

Good luck with your classes Miss Bear!!!

1) What was your favorite subjects in school?/Least favorite?

I loved school so all of them were my favorites.  I hated Algebra and still do not understand it to this day.  Nor do I care!  LOL

2) Did you do anything fun for New Year's Eve?

Yes!  I stayed home and watched a martathon of The Walking Dead on AMC.  It was amazing!  Now I can can't wait for Feb. 1 when it starts back up to see what happens.

3) What would you like to accomplish this year?

De-clutter!!  I'm ashamed to say that there are still boxes that are still unpacked from when I moved over 3 years ago.  I also am bad about shredding stuff that needs to be shredded so I my goal is to clean up and clear out.

4) Do you have a CD player in your car? If so what CD is in there?

I do!  Justin Timberlake's Sexyback currently.  But been rotating that with Fergie's Duchess, Adam Lambert's For Your Entertainment and Glee's Season 1 # 2 soundtrack.

5) What is your favorite radio station?

100.3 WNIC I guess but I scan a lot when I'm not listening to a CD.

6) What is your favorite snack food?

Popcorn

7) Is there any food that you like that other people might find gross or unappealing?

Other than some of the other's already mentioned here like liver, cottage cheese, brussel sprouts, turnips, all of which I love, I'd add rutabega's and I like a bowl of rice krispies with water on them.  It's good!  Really!!!

Thanks everone, I enjoyed reading your answers!  Good questions, Miss Bear!

(1) My favorite subjects in school were creative writing, literature, algebra (yeah, I liked it! Go figure!), ancient history and Latin. My least favorites were physics and chemistry. What I don't know about science would fill a vast library of books. But I like/have always liked astronomy, although I never took a course in it. String theory is way cool!

(2) I had a quiet New Year's Eve this time around. Just stayed at home with my honey. We watched a silly movie, Cowboys and Aliens, which we both enjoyed.

(3) My New Year's resolution is to exercise more in 2012, to eat less and to see that my boy friend does the same. Pretty mundane, huh?

(4) I don't have a CD player.  Nowadays when I want to listen to music I use Youtube or go to the music channels on cable. And being a non-driver in an urban area, I don't even have a car!

(5) Don't listen to much radio anymore, probably because of Reason #4. But back in the day I used to love the Oldies stations and Classic Rock. I like to rediscover all the old hits on Youtube.

(6) My favorite snack food is yogurt with fruit and/or ice cream. I'm lactose intolerant, which is probably why I (perversely) gravitate to dairy products, lol!

(7) I love brussels sprouts, which most people hate. I also really, REALLY like spinach, too. There's one frozen meal that I often eat, a Healthy Choice offering that's heavy on the spinach. Whenever I miscrowave that one, people walk around with sour faces saying "How can you stand that muck?"

Replies: (list all replies)

  • I like spinach too. It's delicious!

    1) What was your favorite subjects in school?/Least favorite?  Would it surprise you if I said that Algebra was actually one of my favorite subjects....well, it was, I have an Algebra gene I guess (actually it seems I'm a direct descendant of one of the forerunners of Algebra in Scotland) which also led to probably more favorite Computer Science.   HATE Government (as evidenced even more by trying to help my daughter with her government classes.)

    2) Did you do anything fun for New Year's Eve?  I played Frontierville on facebook, does that count...LOL  and I was posting on here.

    3) What would you like to accomplish this year?  Same old same old... I want to lose weight and hopefully get my knees feeling better.

    4) Do you have a CD player in your car? If so what CD is in there?  Well, I have a DVD player in my car... but don't have anything in there.

    5) What is your favorite radio station?  Mostly listen to Sirius XM 80s on 8....

    6) What is your favorite snack food?  I have to pick one?  Don't really have a favorite.

    7) Is there any food that you like that other people might find gross or unappealing?   Well, you said cottage cheese... but I like that too.  Cottage cheese with ruffles potato chips....yum...I like avacados, a lot of people don't like them... I like butter beans (prefer the big speckled ones but they are so hard to find)... like cornbread in milk and sometimes even white bread in milk  Oh, I love greens (spinach, collards, mustard, etc) and can eat a whole pot of them by myself.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • My Grandma used to eat cornbread in a glass of buttermilk, I remember liking it when she gave me some of hers. I think I will try it again. /goldie

drats, I'm a day late... going for it anyway...

    1) What was your favorite subjects in school?/  English in 12th grade was very interesting and ART class.  Least favorite?  Science, geometry, Social Studies (we called it back in the day)

    2) Did you do anything fun for New Year's Eve?  We hung out w/ our best friends... dinner, drinks, the Times Square Ball Drop, funny pictures w/ 2012 eyeglasses...

    3) What would you like to accomplish this year?  I know will pay off my car loan and another home loan, which will give me more money to finally start paying down the credit card which sky rocketed since unemployment and a lower paying job... ;  )  however, w/ all the other increases in things... but I digress... I hope to accomplish that!

    4) Do you have a CD player in your car? If so what CD is in there?  I have a 6-cd player... there's Todd in there, Greg Allman, Florence and the Machine and probably Wallflowers.

    5) What is your favorite radio station?  WDST from Woodstock, NY   I can actually say, I've never changed the station due to a song I didn't like.  love that station.

    6) What is your favorite snack food?  Doritos... back when I was a teenager I used to always kid around that I wanted to eat Doritos for an entire weekend so that I'd get sick of them and never want them again... well that never happened and if I had only one choice, it would be for them - ORIGINAL only... none of those other fancy flavors, not even cool ranch.  sorry.

    7) Is there any food that you like that other people might find gross or unappealing?  of course...  Bob doesn't even like 'home baked goods', ie, Christmas cookies so there's one example... he also wouldn't eat Yorkshire pudding... one day we were at a restaurant that gave fresh warm popovers and he went to eat it and then I said to him, excuse me, but that's Yorkshire Pudding and he put it down... I didn't even argue, more for me!  LOL

Happy new year!  thanks for the questions... and good luck w/ your classes.  sounds interesting!

    Good questionys, Miss. Bear!)

What was your favorite subjects in school?/Least favorite? My favorites were History and English;  Least favorite was Phys Ed . . . wasn't very good at the sports thing.

    2) Did you do anything fun for New Year's Eve? We watched a DVD of an old Barbara Stanwyck movie, Executive Suite, and drank champagne at midnight.

    3) What would you like to accomplish this year? Get my house cleaned out and organized.  it's a nightmare!

    4) Do you have a CD player in your car? If so what CD is in there? I have a CD player but no CD in it at the moment.  Last listened to a CD of Bob Dylan's old greats.

    5) What is your favorite radio station? WAMU 88.5, Washington's Public Radio station.

    6) What is your favorite snack food? So many . . .depends on whether I'm feeling good or naughty.  I love Weight Watchers frozen Giant Latte Bars.  I enjoy lime flavored tortilla chips with salsa.  I sometimes settle for very cold red grapes . . . a couple of cups of them!  They satisfy both my chewing and my sweet cravings.

    7) Is there any food that you like that other people might find gross or unappealing? I don't think so.  Except possibly a tradition in my husband's family . . . grilled hot dogs with peanut butter and sweet relish.   My husband, my son and I all love the combo, but my side of the family thinks we're all nuts.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • LOL that is an unusual hotdog combo, but certainly not gross... I love peanut butter! may have to try that next summer. - kris
  • I like history too. I was also lousy at physical education. I think it's because they mixed boys and girls together. How do you play sports with the guys without getting nailed by the ball? It was crazy. I was always getting hit. I don't think they should mix boys and girls in gym class......peanutbutter on hotdogs?? Hmmm, interesting choice.
  • I went to an all girls' high school and college so I never had to worry about the 'boy' issue. I was just a klutz. /SheilaT
  • Consider yourself lucky you didn't have a mixed physical education class. Funny story, one time in gym class the teachers for some reason thought it would be 'fun' to have boys against girls in a tug of war contest. Us girls knew that was stupid and unfair so we decided on the count of three to let go and the boys all fell down, nobody was hurt. It was so funny, though we got in trouble.
  • I was lousy at physical education too. I always dreaded gym class! And all I had, back then, were girls in the class, who were kind enough not to mock me. If we'd had boys there, watching me stumble around, I would have been completely mortified! Understatement
  • I don't know who's idea it was to have a mixed boys and girls physical education class. That is the most stupid thing. Obviously guys and girls are not the same physically, not even close so it made no sense to mix them in gym class. I hated it. It was ridiculous.

Some year I will gather my girlfriends and spend new years up there!

    3) What would you like to accomplish this year?  Lose alot of weight, become the person I know I am on the inside, and become more financially secure.

    4) Do you have a CD player in your car? If so what CD is in there?   Yes, its either Taylor Swift or Veggie Tales.

    5) What is your favorite radio station?   I switch around alot.

    6) What is your favorite snack food?   Lately its Trail Mix!

    7) Is there any food that you like that other people might find gross or unappealing?   A habit learned years ago, but I love crumbled up cornbread in a glass of milk.

    Thanks Miss Bear!

  • How wonderful that you may someday visit the notorious * Shining* hotel! I'd love to see that place myself. Not just for nostalgia over a movie that I enjoyed, but because it's such an impressive and beautiful building in its own right. Better avoid that creepy maze though...Understatement
  • That is interesting, Hillary. Oregon has always claimed The Shining exterior shots as that of Timberline Lodge in Portland. So, I checked and both places claim something from the movie. (See inside) Anita Lyfe eom

    2) Did you do anything fun for New Year's Eve?  We stayed home by choice! NYE is always overly crazy, crowded, expensive, and almost always a let down. The past two years we've stayed in and I think it's a much better way to start off a new year.

    3) What would you like to accomplish this year?  Find my groove regarding healthy eating and exercising.  Get ahead financially.

    4) Do you have a CD player in your car? If so what CD is in there? Yes, let me think... I have Justin Timberlake, Blake Shelton, 2 mix CDs, and I believe I still have 2 Christmas CDs in there.

    5) What is your favorite radio station? The local sports talk radio.

    6) What is your favorite snack food?  Nacho Cheese Doritos. I can't keep them in the house, because if they are there I will eat them. All.  Part of me hates them, but I still keep on eating them.

    7) Is there any food that you like that other people might find gross or unappealing? When we order Chinese food, my favorite part is eating the lo mein noodles the next day, cold.  People seem to think that's strange. Also, I haven't done this in a while, but I love eating a spoonfull of peanut butter with cool whip.

    2) Did you do anything fun for New Year's Eve? Hubby and I took Cody and a friend to the Lightning game, it was a 5:00 game so we were home by 8:30. It was a great game and we had a blast. The rest of the evening we just watched movies on tv, and as per our annual tradition, watched the ball drop and toasted in the new year with sparkling grape juice.

    3) What would you like to accomplish this year? Eat better, exercise more, lose a few pounds.

    4) Do you have a CD player in your car? If so what CD is in there? Yes, currently in there is the Beatles Love soundtrack, and a recording of an eleven year old Cody playing guitar and singing "Across the Universe." It's sooooo cute!

    5) What is your favorite radio station? Music - 107.3 the Eagle (classic rock). Sports talk - The Sports Animal 620 WDAE.

    6) What is your favorite snack food? Potato chips

    7) Is there any food that you like that other people might find gross or unappealing? I'm a very picky eater so I mostly think what other people eat is gross, but one thing I do usually gets a reaction, I like to dunk a bagel with cream cheese into coffee.

They say 'nothing's going to change my world' about 12 times, it's like okay, nothing's going to change your world lol.

  • Creative/liberal artsy people are using one side of the brain, while math and science people use the other. So it's understandable that Picasso probably didn't like calculus, and Einstein didn't do a lot of community theater! It's only rarely that you find a prodigy like Leonardo da Vinci who could access both sides of the brain the way he did. Understatement
  • That's so true. I really admire anybody who is good at both. They have a real gift. It's like my brother, he's good at both art and math. I'm good at art but I am just lousy at math. I had to have a math tutor.

Although, after I got done early at work, and I came home and very was pleasantly surprised that my hubby literally RUSHED home with my son from grandmoms house just in time for the countdown at about...not about...literally... 15 seconds. It was really kinda sweet, given that I married Archie Bunker!

What would you like to accomplish this year? To not go insane! OH and paying my bills in a timely manner would be nice too! If I could manage to get thru one more year without strangling one of my co-workers, that would be nice too. I guess, what I'm saying I want is INNER PEACE!!

Is there any food that you like that other people might find gross or unappealing? Funny you should ask such a strange question round this time of year..whenever I am served baked ham, I put sour cream on it, like a potato. EVERYONE, INCLUDING my IMMEDIATE FAMILY thinks I am TOTALLY GROSS! Sorry...can't eat an Easter or Christmas ham any other way!! Been doing it since I was like 6. Don't know why.

Thanks for the questions! just glad to be back on line!!!

  • that's interesting about the sour cream on ham... I'm thinking maybe as a kid you saw it on the table and tried it and liked it... my younger brother eats toast w/ mayo and cinammon and years later as an adult when we got on the topic, we asked why and how and he said he thought that's what mom did so when she was sleeping and he wanted breakfast that's what he would make. obviously it wasn't gross to him and so he just went w/ it. obviously my mother did the butter and cinammon, but what did a little kid know! LOL btw, I love sour cream and I may just have to try that out of curiosity! - kris
  • I had to work New Years Eve too. I worked till 9 and it was so busy. It was nice your husband rushed home so you could watch the countdown together.
  • Interesting. The idea of sour cream on ham sounds pretty good to me. Understatement
  • It actually IS REALLY good!! try it sometime, everyone at the table will think you are a weirdo too! LOL!! ///Isis

    1) What was your favorite subjects in school?/Least favorite? My favourites were art and English and my least favourites were math and French.
    2) Did you do anything fun for New Year's Eve? My husband and I went to a really fun dinner party at my friend/neighbour's house. My youngest daughter came too. All the adults ended up playing Wii Just Dance after a few drinks and we had a blast.
    3) What would you like to accomplish this year? I lost 20 lbs last year and I would like to lose about 10 more and also get my house really organized. Does anyone watch "the Middle?" I just watched the one where they drew names and made resolutions for each other, I thought that would be kind of fun - or else some big arguments might break out!
    4) Do you have a CD player in your car? If so what CD is in there? Nope, no CD player.
    5) What is your favorite radio station? I flip around all over the place.

Good luck in your upcoming semester, Miss.Bear.  I'm sure you will do well.

    1) What was your favorite subjects in school?/Least favorite?  English/Math

    2) Did you do anything fun for New Year's Eve?  Yes, I did.  I spent it all alone for the very first time in 55 years.  valleyguy was working at the theatre until past midnight and I purposely did not make any plans.  When I told people it was my very first NYE alone many asked ask me to join them, but I told them I was looking forward to seeing midnight in alone.  At 11:55 I crawled into bed and watched the NY come in on a Canadian channel, and then flipped over to Times Square.  I was still awake when valleyguy came home about 1:30 and got my new year's kiss then!

    3) What would you like to accomplish this year?  To remain healthy, get back into walking for my bones, and travel a little.  I'm finding spontaneity works very well for me.

    4) Do you have a CD player in your car? If so what CD is in there?  I do but I always eject my CD's when I'm done listening to them.  The last one I listened to was Susan Boyle's 'I Dreamed A Dream'.

    5) What is your favorite radio station?  KX96 New Country

    6) What is your favorite snack food?  Toasted Cinnabon bread with tea.

    7) Is there any food that you like that other people might find gross or unappealing?  I am not a pop drinker, but when I have pizza I get a couple of ounces of diet coke to dip my crust in.

    Thanks for the questionys!

  • Lol, you call it pop too. Hmm, pizza crust dipped in pop? That's interesting. Gives it a little flavor.
  • Miss Bear, do you call it pop? , I thought it was a Canadian thing....I am addicted to pop, unfortunately.
  • Yes, I do call it pop. I'm from Chicago, that's what we call it here and so does much of the upper Midwest.-Miss.Bear

  • Hi Ulalume. That's an interesting food choice you got there. Never heard of that radio station so I looked it up and it's a jazz station. You should see what they what did with C.O.D! I was just in there a few days ago getting my new books and the construction is finally almost done. It is beautiful. The got a Subway and Panda Express in the cafeteria now. They totally redid the BIC building. It has a Starbucks now, it looks like an airport, it's huge. One of my classrooms is brand new, it is beautiful.
