Additional Comments: I know this was a shocking beginning, but I am curious. Monday night are some of my favorite shows, Broke Girls, Mike & Molly, 2 1/2 Men, etc. I got so tired of them constantly mentioning a ''Penis''. We all know men have them, and I am not a prude by any means, but why do they always harp on this? It really takes away from the fun of watching because it is so repetitious. Is it just me? Does anyone else think this is ridiculous?

I've noticed the same thing as the other poster about Chuck Lorre's shows. I'm a big fan of THE BIG BANG THEORY. Like all of Lorre's shows, it's very witty.
However, that said, it and TWO AND A HALF MEN are about guys fast approaching what used to be called middle age. (Except in TAAHM's case, they're already there.) Yet they're unable to achieve and/or maintain stable relationships and still behave like they're teenagers.
The same thing is true of another favorite, IT'S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA.
What's THAT all about, eh?

Message: Yeah, I was shocked to hear, at CHURCH, a woman saying "it must be a penis thing" when describing a pastime men enjoy. And the same woman (a teacher) came into a church meeting and announced that "we had a penis display today", telling how one of her preschool 'students' had exposed himself in class.
I think it's just one more example of how NOTHING is kept private anymore. There was a time when a person could go to the doctor, be hospitalized or have surgery without specifying what was done. There was a time when office banter was about sports or movies or vacation plans; now it's a recounting of what went on in the bedroom last night. There was a time when people used the toilet or took a shower without posting about it on Facebook. And there was a time when families kept their squabbles within the walls of their homes, rather than using cellphones and texting to air the disputes to everyone they know.

Hubby and I just don't find any of the new 'comedies' funny. The whole premise of the show revolves around sex jokes, risque situations and language that gets tiresome. I suppose young people find these shows interesting but the older generation raised on Mary Tyler Moore, Dick Van Dyke, Leave it to Beaver etc. where situations revolved around every day life, minus the more private aspects, find these shows more entertaining and feel that they made for a 'nicer' more relaxing show.
Sorry if I come off as an old foggy...I'm old, conservative in my humor...I'll own it.

Message: My sister and I were just talking about this! I am not a prude either but you have to draw the line from genuinely funny adult type humor, to just plain vulgar and shock value. I also get tired of hearing "vagina" liberally strewn about. Mike and Molly had an episode on last year that was, for lack of a better word, disgusting with constant references to diarrhea and pooping - I hear this from four year olds. Frankly, I don't find sitcoms the least bit funny anymore. The last ones I truly enjoyed were Raymond and Frasier.

Message: I know what you mean, I think some of the language they say now on tv should not allowed to be said. I remember when I Love Lucy.. they were not allowed to say pregnant or have Lucy or Ricky in the same bed ( earlier shows).. Lol wow.. How times have changed.

Message: I'm so glad to know that I am not the only one who gets tired of raunchy comedy. I've been thinking that I must be really old-fashioned. I'm 57 and I feel like an old fogey.
I have watched Two and A Half Men, Mike and Molly, Modern Family and I think that they are funny shows but the risque jokes get on my nerves. It seems that comedy writers these days are totally focused on s-e-x jokes or bad words being bleeped out.
Last Man Standing is a family show which is not as bad as the others.
I enjoy watching Jon Stewart on the Daily Show but I have to fast forward because of the bad words that are bleeped out. You know what they are saying even if they are bleeped out.
I realize that I am a product of my upbringing because I was never allowed to say bad words.

Message: I know what you mean Goldie. The only one of those shows that I watch regularly is Mike and Molly. I haven't particularly noticed them saying "penis" all the time, but I do think it's unnecessarily risque. I'm pretty liberal about that sort of thing, but sometimes it's just embarrassing when my husband and teenaged daughters are watching together. It's just awkward.

Message: Just wondering, is this a new word they are now being allowed to say? (not a new word, but are newly allowed to say it)... I would get annoyed at them constantly saying Vagina (although I think they are only to say it once within a certain amount of time) too..Besides, what guy really goes around saying penis unless they're talking to a doctor, they usually use more crude language in RL...
