You can pick up a lot about the show from the constant promos CBS runs. I've watched part of the show twice. Once was when Cameron Mathison/Ryan,AMC was on and again when they interviewed Susan Lucci. Both were on after the cancellation of AMC, and I wanted to see what they had to say about their show's demise. I also wanted to see how the hosts would handle the questions, since their show is a replacement show. After the interviews were over, I quickly took a shower and changed the channel. LyndaL

I too am glad to see this go. I actually like Leah. I could actually see Holly, Leah , and Sharon (as a special correspondant) on. Sarah Gilbert does nothing for me. She should just stay behind the scenes. As for Julie "Chenbot" Chen, she just needs a news spot. Again, she could be a special correspondant for the talk. Not on every day.
WHY OH WHY DID MY AS THE WORLD TURNS HAVE TO GO!!! I MISS IT!!!! I REALLY TRULY MISS IT!!!! I watch youtube postings of episodes!! WHY!!!!

Woo Hoo. Two down, three to go! I'd say this calls for a toast of your favorite drink. Thank you so much for posting this, walter curtin. Any bad news for and about this hated show is most welcome. I guess they're dumping Leah because she doesn't let anyone get a word in edgewise, and Holly's cool act doesn't fly. They can't dump Moonves wife, and Sara Gilbert developed the concept for this stupid show. Thanks, Sara.

Honestly, Holly is the only one I would ever be 'disappointed' to see leave! She is much better as the moderator than Julie. She has much more to contribute than ANY of the others (including Sara Gilbert). I can't believe that she isn't insulted by being the automatic 'go to girl' for EVERYTHING gay/lesbian. Sara is more than the creator of the show, she is one of the producers. eom
*developed the concept*? I haven't watched it, but isn't it just a dumbed-down rip-off of The View? Some *concept* eom/D
Apparently, when she first had her child, she joined some sort of mother's group that met regularly, and that's supposed to be the concept upon which this crap is based. But you're right. It is a very dumbed down version of The View, with the worst kind of nepotism on display. LyndaL
Just because it is a dumbed down rip-off of The View doesn't mean that was SG's original concept. TV producers & execs tend to see copying others as the best way to do things. Notice that they keep bringing back low rent rip offs of past successes--talk shows, game shows, etc., rather than doing something truly unique. It isn't the replacement shows' fault that TPTB (Corp)/shows' owners decided that they no longer believe in the genre of soaps. eom

I couldn't have heard more thrilling news. I love how the press releases praising their ratings have disappeared over time especially since One Life to Live is kicking their butts far worse than ATWT ever lost to OLTL in recent years. I'm suprised we haven't seen any recent press releases pumping the Talk over former timeslot holder (that's what they did for a while, just to slap ATWT in the face). But as someone said below, the network will spin their numbers at 2 million - as wildly successful...their 18-49 Women number is in the toilet as well. All because production costs are lower, they call Let's Make a Deal and The Talk very successful even though their numbers stink.

So if The Talk's ratings are in the toilet, what were ATWT's like? Diarrhea, I guess. Rotflmao!

so the old man's trophy wife wasn't the answer for CBS. GOOD. Hope she doesn't sink into a deep depression when she realizes she really does stink.

I saw that! I wish it was just canceled! The article I read said they had 2 million viewers. How does that compare with ATWT?

Those are lousy numbers, whether you are talking about soaps or talk shows. However, for what the networks of today expect, they DO consider those numbers to be great. I've seen maybe five episodes of The Talk. I like it MUCH better without Leah & Julie. Holly is much better as the moderator & there is really only room for one Sharon on ANY panel. I've never been a fan of Leah, no matter what she has done. She was the main reason I didn't like King of Queens. She is the main reason I find The Talk unwatchable--followed thisclose by Julie, who I also find unwatchable. The sad thing is that every show (daytime or primetime) has been ruined by what TPTB (Corp) consider 'good numbers'--using cable as their basis for that. When you look at the numbers that The Sopranos were pulling in, they paled in comparison to what primetime network shows used to pull in, but it was hyped as being 'wildly successful'. The same for other 'wildly successful' cable shows. None of these new daytime shows that are replacing soaps are being done w/any expectation of longevity. To today's Suits a couple of seasons is all they expect to get out of these shows before they bite the dust. They DO (sadly) consider that successful! They've lowered the bar SO far that it is pathetic & insulting to everyone from those involved w/production to the viewers. eom
