Topic: SIX fake funerals at once - is this a soap record??

Additional Comments: Nevermind the fact that some of these people have already been presumed dead before, what I assume are nearly umpteen times.....
And I thought that The Young and the Restless was going overboard on the fake deaths. This show has it nailed.
Is it even possible to even explain to me (a new viewer) how many different ways the characters are related to each other? - all soap characters today on the remaining shows being incestuously tied to each other six different ways to Sunday...
The one bonus is that the DAYS cast was quite good at nailing the emotion, though to be fair, with six people dead (so they think) people should be EVEN MORE insane with grief. Still, though, I was impressed with the acting for once, where it really counted. The actors playing Sami, Will, Austin, even Billie, were believable. This really isn't usually the case on YR for these scenarios, or maybe it's just that viewers are so tired of these fake GH plots, which seem spun from a 1983 timewarp, that nothing much could convince us anyways. As it stands, I couldn't help laughing out loud, anyway, at several points during the tribute at the Brady Pub.

I agree with you.  I felt Sami, Austin and Will did an outstanding job.  So believable.  Right now I am watching for the Will/Sami/Lucas, Stefano/EJ, Sami/Kate/Lucas, Marlena/Will and Nicole/EJ storylines. I am looking for real emotions and stories, not crap like big, bad Stefano and how he can never be brought down and always has the jump on everyone.  I realize this is a Soap but you got to give me more than that.

That had to be exhausting!!! It wore me out just to read it. I'm impressed. I've been watching since 1974, and I couldn't have done that at all. You get 4 stars!

How is everybody related? Let me break it down...

Brady was mourning his father (John), stepmother (Marlena), uncle (Bo), uncle's wife (Hope), second cousin (Carrie) who is like a sister, and second cousin's or stepsister's estranged husband (Rafe).

Madison was there to support her paramour Brady. Her only family on the show is her husband Ian.

Sami was mourning her husband (Rafe), mother (Marlena), stepfather (John) who is her father's cousin and the granduncle of two of Sami's children, uncle (Bo), uncle's wife (Hope) who is the cousin of the father of two of Sami's children, and half-sister (Carrie).

Lucas was mourning his cousin (Hope), ex-wife (Carrie) who is now his half-brother's wife, and children's grandmother (Marlena).

Will was mourning his grandmother (Marlena), step-grandfather (John) who is his grandfather's cousin, granduncle (Bo), father's cousin (Hope), aunt (Carrie) and stepfather (Rafe).

Gabi was mourning her brother (Rafe).

Nicole was mourning the alleged father of her unborn child (Rafe), but not its actual granduncle (John).

Austin was mourning his wife (Carrie), wife's ex-stepmother (Marlena) and her husband (John), wife's uncle (Bo) and his wife (Hope).

Doug was mourning his daughter (Hope) and son-in-law (Bo).

Julie was mourning her half-sister (Hope) who is her stepdaughter, and her brother-in-law (Bo) who is her stepson-in-law.

Kayla was mourning her brother (Bo), sister-in-law (Hope), niece (Carrie), niece's estranged husband (Rafe), ex-sister-in-law (Marlena) and cousin (John).

Shane was mourning his wife's brother (Bo) and his wife (Hope), wife's niece (Carrie), and wife's niece's husband (Rafe).

Roman was mourning his daughter (Carrie), son-in-law (Rafe), ex-wife (Marlena), cousin (John), brother (Bo) and sister-in-law (Hope).

Jennifer was mourning her cousin (Hope) and her husband (Bo).

Jack was mourning his children's mother's cousin (Hope) and his sister's husband's cousin (Bo).

Abigail was mourning her mother's cousin (Hope) and her husband (Bo).

Victor was mourning his son (Bo), daughter-in-law (Hope), and the father of his grandson (John).

Maggie was mourning her stepson (Bo) and late husband's niece (Hope).

Billie was mourning her ex-husband (Bo) with whom she has a child, and brother's wife (Carrie).

Kate should have been there to mourn her daughter-in-law (Carrie), brother-in-law (John) and his wife (Marlena) who is the grandmother of Kate's four grandchildren and stepgrandchildren, son's half-brother and daughter's ex-husband (Bo) and son's cousin (Hope).

  • WOW. Impressive! But can someone explain again how Hope is Julie's half-sister and step-daughter at the same time? And who are John's parents?--Lasha
  • Alice Horton's daughter Addie Olson was Julie's mother. Julie gave up her son David for adoption, and later married the adoptive father, Scott Banning. Doug Williams was a con man who was paid to seduce Julie but fell in love with her. When Julie ended the affair to stay with Scott and their son, Doug and Addie got married on a whim. Hope is their daughter. Shortly after Hope's birth, Addie was killed in a hit-and-run, but managed to save Hope. Julie married Doug three times and is thus the stepmother who raised her half-sister Hope. John Black's parents are Santo DiMera (Stefano's father) and Colleen Brady (Grandpa Shawn's sister). He was adopted by Vivian's brother and sister-in-law and named Forrest Alamain. - Brhannada^sArmour

    1.  Way cheaper than 6 funerals at a funeral home.  (free????)

    2.  Each character's soliloquy was great for their acting resume, in case the show is soon cancelled.

I for one, as an acting student, was very impressed with each one of their speeches.  Their emotions were heartfelt and convincing.
