Okay, here's the dress I'm wearing to The Avengers premiere later this week. It's actually a darker gold than shows in the picture (more like the darker shade of the satin ornament you see on the Christmas tree near my elbow).
My dilemma is what color lipstick to wear. I need an evening color. I'll be completely monochromatic except for the lipstick so I'm counting on the lipstick to add an accent of color. What color-family would look good? Berry? Russet? Tangerine? Red? With my warm skintone and brown eyes, I can't do pinks very well other than an understated mauve. And if it makes any difference, I'll be wearing my hair in an updo and have gold polish on my nails and toes. What do you think?
I'm completely at a loss here but I know you are the one person who will have the perfect answer. No pressure. ; )

WOW, Ingy that dress is amazing! ..you look gorge!
I definitely say a bright red lipstick....red is soooo in this season, and adds loads of glamour!! A little gold shadow would look good with it too, or a smoky eye look. (which is my favorite).

How exciting, ingy!! You look so beautiful in this photo and I’m sure you’ll look just as stunning at the premiere!
Honestly, my first instinct when I saw your photo and read your post was…RED! Red and gold is a classic, winning combination. You can pick any shade of red and level of opacity that you like and would feel comfortable wearing. If you want your lips to really stand out and make a statement against your warmer skin tone, go for a cooler/blue toned red (old Holllywood type of reds). If you want a more complementary shade of red, go for a neutral/warmer red with more orange/coral undertones. I’m not sure if you wanted an actual lipstick recommendation or just an opinion on what colour to go for. Let me know if you want specific suggestions!
I’d say to think about and decide on the type of red (warm vs cool) you want first and then go from there.
If you are looking for a long lasting lip, opt for a drier/matte texture of red lipstick. Apply a small amount of it with a brush and really work it into your lip to create a stain. Then blot it. Then go in for a second thin layer with the brush and work it in. Then blot again. Then take one ply of tissue and lay it over your lip and dust over the tissue with some loose face powder. Then you can go in and apply a bit more colour directly from the lipstick tube for a finishing touch. Blot again. Building the colour in layers like this will help it last much longer because as the top layers wear off, you will still have a residual stain that you built. It works well for me on nights out!
Let me know if this helps! And I hope you post some photos of the event!

Not Sephora and not that makeup savvy. Just wanted to say that you look great in that dress and it's beautiful!
I could see coral/tangerine colors with blush to match. Whatever you choose, I'm sure you'll look great. Have a great time and I hope your MIL has an excellent time, too.
