Topic: Move over Laura ... Anna is now the woman in Luke's life

Additional Comments:

Every day, the budding romance between Luke and Anna is sneaking up on you and constantly surprises you in brilliantly subtle ways.

Today, the way he looked at her and knocked her over with his admission that he loves the way she smiles made me refall in love with Tony Geary, a man I was positive wore out his welcome on this show while it was under Guza's insane seige of terror.

And Finola Hughes is more wonderful than ever.

They make a sweet couple.

I never bought Tracy being the woman who could steal Luke's heart away from Laura.

Anna DeVane, however, is a much different story.

When I first started watching this show in February, I had no preconceived notions about any of the characters except what I had read on the OLTL board.  Several regular posters commented about how GH had lost its attraction when it became one big mob show with Sonny in it too much.  Once I started watching, I tried not to be influenced by strong opinions about the characters.

That said, at first I didn't see the attraction to Luke.  Now...I do.  It may be Anna, it may be the new writers, or I just got to know him better, but I can see why he has held on to the role for so many years.  Part of the attraction may be that the writing is on the wall about Heather's psychopathic ways and I like to see her uncomfortable.

As for Robert, I've only seen him briefly when he appeared when Robin died, and then disappeared before even attending her funeral.  It's okay with me if he stays gone.

  • You got hooked by Geary's 'look' that face that speaks volumes when he looked at Anna. Maddie McD
  • Sea, I am glad that you finally ''get'' Luke. For most of my GH viewing time, AG/Luke has been my only reason for watching. During the years that he was missing, I know I only watched out of habit. About Robert....his last appearance was a total disservice to the character, the actor, and mostly to the fans. For me, the true ''super-couple'' of GH was Luke/Robert rather than Luke/Laura. I do hope that the real Robert will return, and you can see why so many of us loved him. There was a lot of the Luke/Robert vibe with Luke/Ethan, it just didn't last long enough. dd

I have to agree its great to see two talented actors on screen at the same time. I want Luke and Laura, and Robert and Anna. But you know the saying Want in one hand,SH%$ in the other, see which one fills up faster.

The more on screen time they get,the less sonny we get.I hope !

  • LOL, Bad Santa reference: Why don't you wish in one hand, and shyt in the other. See which one fills up first. Maddie
  • I didn't mean to insult anyone with this saying, I was saying what I want to watch and I can want etc. I know most of the time tiic don't care what we want, see Mob has taken over the show and tried to destroy Luke .. I am very happy to see Anna back, and at least when they are on,we win.tenaj

As much as I am enjoying seeing FH and TG acting together, I'm with Elliot and really don't want a romance between Anna and Luke. Why can't they just be friends? To answer Helena's question, I don't know if Robert is still in love with Anna or not, but I want him to be. Robert and Anna are my favorite GH couple of all time and I want them to a) find their daughter together, and b) realize they still love each other. Til then, I'm happy to have Luke and Anna as friends, but hate the idea of a romance there.

TG and FH in any scenes is a good thing and the more the better. I could watch them all day. Next we need NLG in a story and I willl really be happy. Coleman needs to be in more scenes as well.

Why can't two adult male and female characters just be really, really good friends and confidants? I personally don't want to see them as a couple. I'm not saying it wouldn't work, but why does it have to? Can't Luke just be single? Does everyone have to be coupled up with someone to make their character worth having around? I'll take whatever the show has to give me as I'm happy with it for the first time in a decade, but I wish they wouldn't go there with Luke and Anna.

  • Looking for a 'like' button. I agree. I'm fine with them just having this tight friendship. But TG can be so charming I can see why people imagine him in a romance. Is Robert still in love with Anna? Helena
  • Like, Like, Like, Like. eom.
  • Who knows? And what ever happened with the test Helena was going to run to see if Ethan was really Luke's or Robert's son? Did they totally forget that stuff or did I miss it? eom Elliott
  • a strong, lifelong, friendship is priceless. That is what these two need in their lives. Besides,Luke and Robert were like brothers, and being with Anna would cross a line(already crossed years ago with Holly, but they moved past that) Anna needs to stay friends with Luke.kimba

These two actors each bring magic to the roles they play...I guess that means double magic when they are on screen together. I love them together on screen, as lovers, friends, whatever... anything that brings them together is fine with me... Heather lurking though makes me nervous. Anna needs to be involved with Emma and helping Patrick too. If it is to be a romance I hope there is a long build up to it and both Luke and Anna have time to be parts of the community and their families too. That is what makes a great soap, not just two people locked together in a romance.

  • At first it was funny and cute their laughing about Heather and then I thought you two better take that wing-nut seriously. Ask Maggie what it feels like to be paralyzed before death. But they are charming together - I also fell in love with Geary as he gave Anna that look. Lanna - the next best thing to LnL. Although Truke was entertaining,I don't see Luke settling for that kind of relationship for too long. He's a romantic kind of guy. And Anna's still got that adventure/spy vibe going on. Luke loves that. Maddie McD
  • Yep, it is the eye twinkle. They both have it, and they are two of the finest actors around. These two are like the Superbowl of acting! We are so very lucky to have them. Thalia
  • I love the actress who plays Heather. She does it so well she creeps me out, and I feel kinda tense when she turns her evil eye on characters I like. Agree watch out Anna? Luke? She will probably go after Anna ... to eliminate the competition but who knows since Heather is really a natural resident of Ferncliff.Shudder. Thalia

I LOVE it. Luke and Anna are so natural together and relaxed and easy. Grandparents together--wow, who'd have thought.
I hated the Tracy-Luke thing because it was unbelievable. Two good actors, but the characters would NEVER have gotten together. Luke is a romantic and he would never have committed to cranky Tracy--she isn't at all his type. He wouldn't put up with her spoiled nastiness and complaining. Guza used their bickering as comic relief, but it was hardly fun to anyone who had loved Luke and Laura. We saw him with Laura and she was loving-yet-firm with him, but never nasty or hateful. She was a soft womanly woman, which appealed to Luke.
Anna has qualities that could make me warm to her as his match--they make each other laugh, for one thing. That is always a plus in any relationship.
I've been hoping they would bring back Tristan Rogers, but maybe they shouldn't...at least not now...

  • GHFan, is Robert still in love with Anna? I can't remember. If Luke is willing to give away his son to help Robert it doesn't make sense that he'd get romantic with Anna because that would hurt Robert one way or the other. Perhaps they do fall in love and both fight it. Helena

I would have preferred they kept it platonic (for sooooooo many reasons), but, I guess we have to see what happens.
