Topic: Tea speaking Spanish and Intesity

Additional Comments: I watched OLTL when Tea and Todd were a couple. I stopped watching a few years ago except the occasional sick days. I have a couple questions. Does any one know what she and Padia said to each other in the police station- I am guessing it was about Johnny. Not sure it mattered but it drove me crazy since I could not understand it. Second what is she calling Star. I am guessing it is a pet name for her-but still don't understand what she is actually calling her. Is this a normal Tea thing, speaking a little Spanish. I remember her always being Intense and feeling that she is always right and everyone else is wrong, would that be correct?

Thanks for posting what it meant. At least now I will understand what she is calling Star. I do have to agree the convo in Spanish was not helpful to me and was more annoying than cute.

Just wanted to chime in and say I enjoy when she speaks Spanish. The others clarified what she was saying.

Tea's intermittent use of Spanish makes me want to punch her in the throat.  It always has.  She has never been a character I considered one of my favorites, but when she was with Victor, and she and Blair bonded, she was tolerable and I even liked her.  Now, the way she is pushing Todd out of the way, when even she knows the connection he and Starr have, reminds me of why I was glad Todd paddled away from the island...

  • Why does Tea speaking Spanish make you want to 'punch her in the throat? She only occasionally speaks it to other hispanic people she encounters as do many hispanics do IRL! I don't find that people speaking Spanish cause me to react so violently, but that's just me.//eom.Dina
  • Hey twin, come back to the dark side(that is IF you are coming back) :-) ladfan
  • To clarify, Tea can speak Spanish all day to another Hispanic. What I meant by 'intermittent' is tossing an occasional word in and over-pronouncing it. And I don't understand the dark side... eom/sea
  • sea, what I meant was you coming back to the *not like* Tea side again :-) ladfan
  • ladfan, I'm nothing if not fickle. I am dazzled by my own changes of heart. eom/sea
  • LOL, there are worse things to be than fickle. Ok, dazzle me by joining me :-) ladfan
  • it's like Tea decided Star is her adoped daughter/and the Tea waterworks at the drop of a hat/is it possible Tea has gotten LOUDER?? ;((

SM answered the question about the convo below, but I want to echo that while Tea can often be self-righteous, she does not always think she is right. When she DOES think she's right, I'll concede that for some it can be off-putting, but she also can be very clear-headed and logical about a situation and will admit when she is wrong.

But yes...she IS intense. It's one of the things I like about her. She's passionate.

  • That's the right word, passionate. It's one of the things that make her a great lawyer. //SM

Roughly translated, I think it was:

Padilla:  This guy [Johnny] is a loser and you should keep her [Starr] away from him.

Tea:  Yes, I can see that very clearly.

Yes, Tea has always spoken Spanish, but there seems to be a smattering more of it now.  I'm guessing TPTB are not insensible to the fact that there's a large, loyal, Spanish-speaking telenovella audience out there.

Yes, Tea is intense, but I've never seen her as thinking she is always right.  She's annoyingly self-righteous when she *knows* she is right, but no, not always right, lol.

  • I thought I was going to dislike Tea but I can relate to her disgust over a man who screwed with her. Her intensity is kind of funny. I only wish the story was different and that Tea's wrath were directed at Sonny. Helena
  • Patience, Helena . . . there's time for Tea to direct her wrath at Sonny. I'm sure she will in time. Right now she's focusing on getting a 'not guilty' verdict for her stepdaughter, and she will unleash her anger only at someone who interferes with her plan. /SheilaT
  • I concur. RIght now she is pregnant, hormonal and has good reason to be directing all that anger at Todd, since he did happen to kill her husband, at least as far as they all know. But I have no doubt that tptb will heal Todd and Tea's relationship. Ultimately Todd was right - when he loves a woman he will always care about her, so at the end of the day, Blair and Tea will always end up reconciled with him. So once that happens, Tea will be able to unleash some of that fury in Sonny's direction...Boome

  • It's on Youtube. //SM
  • It's not that important. You posted what was said and that is enough for me. Thanks again. Helena
