I hope so. I like Johnny and don't want him to be responsible for Hope and Cole's deaths.
On a side note, if Anthony had a gun on him and was willing to kill Johnny for not protecting him, why didn't he just shoot Luke and Tracy, since he is afraid they want to take him out? Inconsistent writing in those scenes.

I think that Anthony/BW is the one who is leaving the show (before Johnny anyway), and I think these recent scenes with evil, evil Anthony are just the setup to make Johnny one of many suspects in AZ's murder.

There were rumours a short time ago that the actor who plays Johnny was leaving the show. Do you think if there were a possibility that was true, the writers set it up this way just in case he decided to leave? If he didn't leave, then it could crime could fall on to Connie. Both Connie and Johnny have reasons for doing it. It's just a theory, not that I know for sure which one did it.
On a personal note, I am siding with some of the other responders who think Johnny hired someone to take the shot, but didn't actually do the shooting. That is going to be the loophole, in my opinion, to keep Johnny clean of the events and in PC. Perhaps the actual shooter will disappear/die before he could actually testify against Johnny. I think Connie is saying she did it to put the final nail into Kate & Sonny's relationship.

Message: Half the time AZ is threatening Venus, and half the time he's acting terrified of her. It doesn't make sense. Also, he knows she found a way out of her marriage to Gino Soleito right quick... he should've been smarter than to marry her in the first place!

Message: I disagree with all of the asumptions so far. I think Johnny was telling Anthony that he put out a hit on him and perhaps the guy we saw Johnny talking to in the prior scene was the contracted hitman.

Message: I have to say, I'm pretty impressed. I was not expecting that at all. All along I've thought it was Connie who did the deed. I figured that was going to be the shocking reveal, but I should have guessed there was another twist. RC sometimes sneaks one in.
So, I guess now that's the big mystery. Did Connie take the shot or did Johnny really do it? It's been easy to believe Johnny was innocent because, as much as he may hate his DaddyGrampa, he's still family and, of course, Carly has been assuring us over and over again that Johnny couldn't possibly have done because he was with her.
And it's been easy to believe that Connie was guilty because, well, she's a nut job, she hates Sonny, she's been acting guilty, and she doesn't have much of an alibi.
It's really quite interesting. One of them is lying, but which one?

Message: At the beginning, I thought that it was Connie that shot out Anthony's tires, but now, personally, I think that's what Johnny was talking about with Anthony, which explains why he has been relatively nice to Starr...because he inadvertently killed her family. It also explains why, after Sonny was acquitted, Carly heard him say something about how finding the gun in Kate's office should have been enough to get Sonny convicted. Even though Connie 'confessed' to Sonny that it was her, I think she was just messing with him.

I just watched the episode this morning, and I didn't hear it that way. I thought Johnny was confessing to an earlier shooting, but I've only watched for a few months and it is hard to keep up.
I like Johnny, as well, and I think he had nothing to do with shooting Anthony's tires. As to what is going on with Tracy, other than annoying me, it makes no sense at all. I know most people here like the interaction between Luke and Tracy, but to this new viewer, it seems forced, and a little slapstick. There is something about a pie in the face that is mildly amusing, but to me they are not. Two 60-somethings rolling around on the floor is ridiculous.
Luke needs to devote his time to Anna because otherwise he is not remotely interesting.
