ABC’s The Revolution Continues to Spiral Downward

Three weeks to-date and The Revolution on ABC is turning into one of the biggest failures in the history of daytime. As for The Chew versus year-ago occupant All My Children, the losses this week are 16 percent in total viewers (2.65 to 2.23 million), 23 percent in women 25-54 (1.3/ 7 to 1.0/ 6) and 11 percent in women 18-49 (0.9/ 5 to 0.8/ 5).

Results among women 18-34 are flat.

This week’s moral of the story: talk is cheap, but the audience is more valuable.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

The Revolution will not be televised! (sometime in early september I'd say).

I had Wednesday off from work. When 2pm (est) rolled around, I made a mental note that OLTL use to be on, and how it would have been the thing I would have watched on a day off like that. About 10 minutes later I thought about THE REVOLUTION and decided to check in on it.

It was in a commercial break, and I swear to God when they came out of the break, all 5 hosts (including Ty Pennington from EXTREME MAKEOVER and fashion dude Tim Gunn, were standing around a table with a bunch of clear vials filled with colored liquid. The blond woman on the show welcomed people back, and then said, "We are going to talk about something people don't like to talk about - URINE."

My eyes bugged out - I shook my head - and I couldn't hit the power button fast enough. Insane.

Around 3pm, I decided to click on and see if I could get into GH - the end of REVOLUTION was wrapping up, and everyone was going into the audience and shaking hands. Knowing that they have to pay those folks to waste an hour of their lives made me sad - this show can't die fast enough.

On a side note, I couldn't get into GENERAL HOSPITAL. I don't know if it was an off day or something, but I recognized only two people in the 10 minutes I watched. I had absolutely no idea what was going on. I'll check it out in a few more weeks when the Llanviewites show up, but I'm not holding out hope.

URINE?!?!?

I haven't seen anything of "The Revolution" or "The Chew" other than the ads.  Based on that, "The Revolution" should do better than the revolting "The Chew".  Those ads for "The Chew" are like a SNL skit satirizing cooking shows.

Perhaps GH will be ger a reprieve from the chopping block that is sad to be awaiting it this spring.  It's got a EP who knows how to bring the show in on budget and a HC who, while having his fair share of bad storylines, respects history and can write a balanced show.  If GH is canceled while "The Revolution" remains on the air then I will know for sure (as if I didn't already - LOL) that ABC wanted out of the soap business.  I know it is more expensive to produce a soap than something like "The Revolution", but maybe ABC has learned that a soap can actually anchor their afternoon daytime lineup.

And one day pigs will fly....

  • Okay, confession time: I've actually seen both shows (I know, I'm a traitor, but I'm over 60 so they don't care about me anyway). Anyhow, as goofy as The Chew is, the folks seem to be having a good time and it's actually enjoyable (except for Mario Batali -- he's embarrassing to watch). The Revolution, OTOH, is painful for the whole cast, for the entire hour. A total flop as far as I'm concerned. /SheilaT
  • With enough thrust, pigs fly just fine! (Saw it on a tee shirt. I don
