Additional Comments:

Earlier today, I read an article (on the We Love Soaps website) about Ellen Holly, ex-Carla from OLTL.  The article talks about her coming to the show and the racist attitudes she endured during the course of her stay.  Because of this article, I did a search on youtube to see if there were any clips from that time period.  I found some, but I also found one from July 1969.  It had Larry Wolek in it (in the hospital recovering from some sort of accident).  It also had Dr. Craig in it.  But the character I am asking about is an amnesiac named Tom.  He was talking to Meredith Lord and Anna Wolek.  I was wondering who the amnesiac was and what was his storyline.  If anyone can go that far back and provide a brief update, I would appreciate it.

BTW, it was funny, but I recognized Llanfair immediately, even if it is decorated differently!  LOL

For a whlie (and please don't ask my why) Victor Lord thought that Tom Edwards was the son that he'd fathered during a world war 2 romance but inspite of that he tried to push MEREDITH into an engagement/marrage to Tom

  • Ah, yes, but Victor was not Meredith's bio-dad, if I recall. Isn't learning that fact the reason he pushed Eugenia down the stairs? Wanda Wolek
  • Yes, Victor was Meredith's bio Dad. When it was revealed that Victor was a incesteous rapist they insinuated that Eugenia had been sleeping around but it was never taken beyond that.
  • Are you sure about that, tallk? I'm seriously asking because I definitely remember that Viki's initial DID was explained by witnessing Victor struggling (and maybe pushing) Eugenia down the stairs because she revealed Victor wasn't Meredith's dad. Maybe I need to revisit the history pages to make sure. Wanda
  • OK, I checked the history pages for Meredith Lord (Wolek) and while it didn't go into the reveal, it did list Viki as Meredith's maternal half-sister. So, I'm guessing my memory is right. For once - LOL. Wanda
  • Wow, i knew nothing about this and I watched from day 1. I remember some rumors that Eugenia had an affair but thats it. Victor always treated Meredith very well and I don't remember her ever wondering who her real Father was. Was this a later re-write of history?
  • I have heard that too But I have ALWAYS (and will contiune too) belive that MEREDITH was Victor'sdaughter, just as Victoria (there were even hints much smaller granted that it was Victoria who might not have been his daughter but who knows, No, I don't think it was a rewirte as it went all the way back, I think it was dropped and never referred too again , but Victor and Eugenia's final arguement and Eugenia's death was the ORGINIAL cause of Viki/Niki
  • I remember Dorian trying to dig up information that might prove that Viki was really adopted, but then that storyline was dropped suddenly. I honesty believe that website is wrong that states Meredith was not Victor's daughter because that was never established.
  • Wanda, back in the 80s when they made books based on Soap Oprea as I recall it was called something like Soap's and Serals anyone OLTL only have books one and two it ened where Niki Smith shot Victor Lord, but before she did NIKI SMITH was the one (according to the book) who told MEREDITH of the Night Eugenia was in fact taking Victoria and going to be with MEREDITH
  • I may be way too late coming back to this discussion, but here goes anyway. Victor raised Meredith as his own even though he knew she wasn't his bio-child. This was back when Victor was a controlling but loving father rather than a pedophile. He felt Meredith was his child, which is why he meddled so much in her life. But as I said before I distinctly recall the rationale for the fight between Victor and Eugenia on the stairway involving the reveal that Meredith was not Victor's bio-child. She may have been intending to leave with the children anyway and just threw that out in addition. I don't think Meredith's parentage was a rewrite. Wanda
  • Yes, I agree it was insinuated by Vicki's memory of what happened on the stairs that Meredith was not Victor's child. Michael Malone re-wrote that stair sequence with Victor just yelling at Eugenia that she was a whore. The point is these were memories of a 5 year old girl. Victor Lord to my knowledge never questioned Meredith being his daughter. Furthermore whenever he talked about Eugenia he did so in glowing terms. He would only way what a wonderful Mother and wife she was. Therefore, as far as I am concerned Meredith is Victor's child. It was only questioned in that dream sequence.

You are talking about Tom Edwards who was played by soap vet Joseph Gallison.  He was probably better known for his run as Neil Curtis on DAYS OF OUR LIVES but was also on a couple other soaps as well.  I needed a brush-up on the info on his story so found this:

Young intern Dr. Larry Wolek (Jim Tulley, Jim Storm, Michael Storm) fell in love with Meredith Lord, or "Merrie" (Trish Van Devere, Lynn Benesch) the younger of Victor Lord's (Ernest Graves, Sheppard Strudwick, Les Tremayne, William Mahoney) two daughters. They initially met when Larry helped treat Merrie's heart condition. Victor disapproved of Larry as a suitor for his daughter and forbade her seeing him. Frustrated, Larry turned to Karen Martin (Niki Flacks), a nurse who saved his life when he was trapped in a fire. Larry wed Karen, but realized soon afterward it was a mistake; he didn't love her. He did stay with her when he found out she was pregnant however. Meanwhile, a heart-broken Merrie became involved with Tom Edwards (Joseph Gallison), a young man whom she found wandering in the park with amnesia and who grew more to Victor's liking. Karen miscarried her baby and agreed to a divorce. Larry wanted to court Merrie again, but she had already accepted Tom's proposal. Ultimately though, Merrie chose to wed Larry. Merrie went through her own extremely difficult pregnancy, but successfully delivered twins, a son Danny (who would eventually grow up to be a doctor as well) and a daughter who died at birth. She suffered from post-partum depression. She was also held hostage by two escaped convicts for a prolonged period. Tragically, she died of a brain aneurysm in 1973, leaving Larry crushed.
