OLTL Discussion Group
Jennifer looks like she is wearing a maternity dress. Steven and Randy, I never know what they are wearing.
Ryan announces that the tickets for the Summer Tour go on sale tomorrow, May 11th. He mentions some of the cities they will visit. Then he does an Oprah and announces that everyone in the audience tonight will get tickets to any of the concert dates. The crowd goes wild.
Group Number – "California Dreamin'" (The Mamas & the Papas)—Okay performance but they have done better.
Ford Commercial – The three Idols (Phillip is missing again *more on Phil below) show how they make a Ford commercial. They do it on Sunday, which is their “fun day”. Then the commercial is shown – Joshua is driving and Hollie and Jessica blow on the windows to form condensation. Whatever they draw within the fogged up spot on the window - the sun, flowers, butterflies, comes to animated life along the road they are traveling.
Results – 70 million votes were cast. Jimmy comments on each song.
Phillip is called up first – Jimmy says that Phillip is finding his true identity on his first song. On the second, he says that Phillip delivered on his promise. Ryan sends Phillip back to the couches.
Hollie is next (It seems they are being called in the order of their performances last night) – Jimmy says that she did a wonderful job on “Faithfully”. Second song, he felt she didn’t understand the song and crashed and burned. Ryan sends her back to the couches.
David Cook comes out to sing his new single - "The Last Song I'll Write for You" -- it was a good song. I’ve liked some of his others better.
Back to Results -
Joshua is up – Jimmy comments that he didn’t like the Josh Groban song, but absolutely loved the second song. He also is sent back to the couches.
Jessica is the last to listen to Jimmy, who says that he didn’t like her imitating Etta James, too much growl. The second song he thought the elements of her song came together perfectly. Yet, he doesn’t know who will take the prize this year. They all have a chance. As with the others, Jessica is sent back to the couches to learn their fate later in the program. Ryan can be annoying at times.
Jennifer Lopez is next with a pretaped stage performance of her new video - "Dance Again" -- all I can say is that it was milder than the video they showed over a month ago.
Ryan asks each judge to comment on a contestant—
Steven says that Phillip has evolved. He will go on no matter what.
Jennifer is brought to tears by the memory of Hollie’s audition and the journey she has taken.
Randy is so glad that they didn’t take Joshua last year because he is much more ready this year. His singing is the best the show has ever seen.
Jennifer comments on Jessica asking her what trick she uses for really great singing.
Finally, the Main Results ~
Jessica – Top 3
Joshua – Top 3
Phillip – Top 3
Eliminated – Hollie –We all knew that it was her but you never know what can happen. Dial Idol was accurate last week. If they were accurate this week, it would have been Joshua going home and there would have been a shocker. They run Hollie’s package as she watches teary eyed. Hollie then sings, "The Climb" , which she did last week and got great praises from the judges on it. She does another great job and all the other contestants are crying sorry to see her go. In the end it was pretty much as we had thought, no surprises.
I mentioned last night that I would let you know what next week's theme was when I hear. I had forgotten that there will be no theme next week. Next week is the 3 song choices for each contestant--Personal Choice, Jimmy's Choice, and Judge's Choice, which they find out at their hometown visit.
Also, just to remind you that Songbird will be putting on the recap next week as I have something else to attend to. I'll be back to recap the Finale.

Some Extra AI News:
* Phillip Phillips to Undergo “Good Sized” Surgery Before Tour
Phillip Phillips told E Online that he’ll be undergoing major surgery before the summer tour to take care of the chronic kidney stone problems plaguing him throughout the competition:
“It’s probably going to go down,” he told us. “It’s a pretty good-size surgery, a lot of time down, but you gotta do what you gotta do. So we’ll see. I should be [back in time for the tour].”
[Getting in the Top 3] the typical busy promo schedule the winner and runner up embarks upon will have to be postponed.
Actually, immediately post Idol is probably the best window of opportunity for Phillip to take care of his health issues, before tour and recording would begin. After the tour, there’s the jam packed promotion schedule to promote the debut record.
Plus, the poor guy has been in so much pain, the sooner he takes care of business, the better. Get well soon, Phillip.Phillip, who has pushed through the competition despite complications associated with his liver, also spilled that before the Idol summer tour he’ll be undergoing some pretty serious surgery.
