Protecting her kid, good for her.  Remember how Princess Diana was stalked and how she died.

I also agree about the paparazzi.  This reminded me of an interview w/someone who said that they were living in the same NYC neighborhood as Gwenyth Palrow when she was about to have her second child & how the paprazzi would wait behind bushes, cars & anything avilable, then jump out.  He said that there were quite a few times where they would jump out at him & startle him, then they would often share an explative (sp) upon seeing that it wasn't their intended target.  I can only imagine what that 'startle' would be like for a very pregnant woman or a smalll child--no matter how often it happens.

Suri is also at an age where kids start having very specific feelings about privacy.  The 'fun' may have well worn thin for the kid, I know seeing her every move being documented hasn't been 'entertaining' for me since she was about 9 mths old.

I like the point Mimi makes. Katie Holmes could well be trying to protect the kid from intrusive photographers. Good for her.

Maybe Suri's feet were hurting from wearing high heels.

I guess I do not think it is that big of a deal. When my niece who is 5 years old gets tired of walking I either carry her for a few blocks or give her a piggy-back ride. Also, when my niece gets scared of strangers (she is afraid of old people) she wants to be picked up and gets a bit clingy. Judging by how many paparazzi that girl deals with it could be frightening.

  • Actually, that is a VERY good point. If my little girl was surrounded by strangers taking pictures with high voltage flashes going off in her face, I would also cover her in a blanket and carry her to safely. Also, we don't know if maybe Suri was sleeping before they got out of the car and was too tired to walk.
