Topic: So sad - Jonathan Frid has died, before *Dark Shadows* movie comes out

Such a shame he didn't get to see it!  But he apparently appears in it briefly, so that's a good thing.

Rest in peace, Jonathan ... you gave many people a lot of pleasure with your crazy vampire.

Yesterday,a waitress at a cafe told me that the original Barnabus passed away.Surprising that he go just before the new Dark Shadows movie comes out.

Maybe it was more excitement than his body could tolerate at his age ... ? I know a lot of elderly people pass away right after a big occasion, like my great-aunt after her 100th birthday celebration. Hard for our bodies to handle a lot of stress, whether good or bad, when we get to be that age. Well, I'm glad Mr. Frid had a part in the movie, anyway. -Spell

I was just reminded of George Burns and Bob Hope-both of whom lived to be 100-but died before they reached 101.-Richard

I had heard of him, but I didn't watch his show back then.    My mom would be watching Dark Shadows when I got home from school, but I couldn't get into soaps back then.    I'm sorry that he didn't llve to see it premeire, but happy that he did play a part in the movie.

I haven't heard anything of Johnathan Frid in ages. I have only a few vague memories of when Dark Shadows was in first run, but I have watched the show through more than once in reruns. Really liked Barnabas, and Mr. Frid's performance of the character. Yeah, it was over the top and high camp, but very enjoyable.
