Additional Comments:

Someone needs to write it down for the mentally challenged Sharon:

And that's only the highlights...not the rest of the story.

Okay Sharon, please tell me why you love him?  Someone answer, b/c I'm at a loss.

I've been a Sharon fan and I still find myself sticking up for her. I can see her having great gratitude for saving her children's lives but falling in love with him is another matter. I still like them together. Nick doesn't want Adam near his children. Would he have felt that way when the roof on the barn fell on him while he was protecting Faith. Faith was a small baby at the time and surely she most likely would have been killed. And saving Noah and Eden by running into a burning house? Would Nick have liked Adam nowhere near them. Nick has good reason not to like Adam but he could show some gratitude for not having two more dead children. About Sharon loving Adam....in real life it seems that something crazy like this could be possible. How about wives of mobsters who are killers and they love them? And that's in real life. There are strange couples out there. The writers have made Sharon what she is. I'm still rooting for her. Oddly enough, I'd trust her as friend--except for Kay and Nikki - but they are more like mother and daughter- Sharon is the only one who has had a female friend about her own age with Dru. Phyllis certainly has no female friends, neither does Vickie, Ashley, Tracey who would be lovely as a friend but is only recurring. Jill has a strange relationship with Kay though they really do care about each oher. Gen is new but I wouldn't trust her after that betrayal with Jack. But Sharon I would trust. I'd like Jill but wouldn't cross her if it concerned a man.

The problem I see when we try to compare Adam's misdeeds with Phyllis's and Michael's, and we note Sharon's willingness to overlook them, is that Adam was messing about with Ashley's and Sharon's and some other unknown lady's baby.

Sharon is coming across as missing a motherly instinct, and what about the mother of the baby whose ashes Adam stole? She would probably be devastated to know how her baby's ashes were disrespected.

IMO that's where the writers really messed up with Adam's character portrayal. Phyllis ran over Paul and Christine but at least they were grownups and not helpless tiny babies, and the same with Michael attacking Christine and Paul attacking Christine, etc. Those were bad acts but perpetrated against grownups who could fight back or in some way protect themselves, whereas little babies cannot.

Replies: (list all replies)

  • Sharon is not missing a motherly instinct. And Faith doesn't need to be able to *fight back* because she wasn't hurt by what happened. The adults in her life were, but Faith was NOT. Victor has caused more than one miscarriage. At least Adam has never caused a child to be dead or injured, like Ashley and Nikki's unborn full term babies, or like Summer Newman was!....Angelique Collins
  • But Adam DID cause a baby to be dead......Ashley's unborn child was killed when she fell down the steps after being frightened by Adam. As for Faith....how do you know she wasn't hurt by Adam's kidnapping her and giving her to Ashley? At 6 months of age, Faith was taken from Ashley, the only mother she had ever known.....and given to Sharon, who was a stranger to her at the time. Nobody really knows what affect that may have had on her, not even a child psychologist could predict.
  • Do YOU remember things that happened to YOU when you were six months old?? If so, let's hear them. Right now the writers have gone out of their way to show that Prophecy Child is a healthy happy secure child....Angelique
  • Emotional problems can stem from events that are hidden away in a person's subconscience. Just because you like Adam, you can't whitewash what he did. Facts are facts
  • I have no interest in whitewashing Adam. I just think some viewers attempt to paint Faith as damaged or hurt by what happened to her at birth are lame and weak. The needs of a newborn are basic and simple...food, sleep and lots of physical contact and nurturing. NEVER AT ANY POINT IN HER EXISTENCE HAS FAITH BEEN WITHOUT THOSE THINGS. Never. Facts are indeed FACTS....Angelique
  • For the poster who said Adam didn't cause a miscarriage like Victor did, I beg to differ. He was downright responsible for Ashley losing her baby with Victor.
  • I disagree that Faith was not harmed by what Adam did. He caused her not to bond with her real mother. I think Sharon is able to drop Faith at the mere mention of Adam because SHE never bonded with Faith. Not saying Sharon doesn't love Faith but they are not bonded like a mother and child should be. Faith is hurting and will be hurt because of that. Like it or not, what Adam did WAS criminal. No two ways about it. This is coming from an Adam fan. eom/K
  • Victor didn't cause either of those miscarriages. Victor and Nikki were on the stair and when Victor tried to leave, Nikki tried to grab him and fell backwards down the stairs. Had she left him alone, as he asked, little Jack would probably had been fine. As with Ashley, it was her decision to drive while being in a precarious pregnancy. Jack begged her not to drive, but she did, got in an accident, and lost Robert. eom VeeJay

Why do people act so shocked/offended that Sharon is in love with the town pariah??

There have been hints from Day One that this girl is more complicated than the pretty, vapid blonde who was simply content to be MyBoy's brood mare trophy wife.

She came on the show pretending to be a virginal ingenue. In fact she had run wild as a 15 year old and had given birth to a child. She is the indirect cause of her mother's accident. She tricked Nick into getting her pregnant with Noah because she felt insecure. She went for a walk on the wild side with hot stableboy Diego because she realized that MyBoy was boring. She hit on her father in law, then ran off and had an affair with psycho creep Cameron Kirsten because...well you know. She was confused, conflicted and bored.

The list goes on and on.

Then comes Victor Adam Newman. Perhaps the first and only man in her life to tap into, recognize and love both the Good Girl and the conflicted Troubled Woman...and embrace and love them both. He doesn't demand that Sharon stay on the Ranch, be pretty, birth babies and look pretty.

He-like Sharon-was an only child abandoned by his father. He had a handicapped mom who loved him but perhaps didn't have a clue how pissed off he really was...just like Sharon.

He and Sharon connect sexually on an almost primitive level.

Fans of Sharon who wail, moan and wring their hands about Faith and how "he stole her baaaybeee" are quite frankly missing the point.

She looks at Adam and she sees Sharon. He lives out his dark side, she kept hers hidden for years.

In a way, he has liberated her to be who she has been all along...both light and dark.

  • What point are we missing,do you mean the one where he took her live born baby, told her it was dead and deformed, and substituted another dead babies ashes to prove it. I must have missed a show or two since i don't see any rationalization for this.tj
  • If I need to explain why Sharon can overlook those things in any more depth than I already have, I don't have anything else to add. Sorry you didn't get it. But it makes perfect sense to me....Angelique
  • Loved, loved, loved your summary, Angelique! And I agree that Adam has definitely *tapped* into the real Sharon--the troubled good girl. LOL! They have soooo much chemistry and so much in common and that's why they can't let each other go. tj and others will never understand their relationship because imo they continue to apply *real world* principles to their love story, as if this were real life or what they would do in this situation. This is all about the power of forbidden love, and like you I'm lovin' it! SugarB.
  • SugarB I think Shadam is the most complex love story Y&R has ever attempted to write. I am riveted....Angelique
  • Oh puleeze.....complex love story, GMAB! Sharon will be in bed with some other guy before spring is here.

There is no rhyme or reason, as to why someone will fall in love with a man others may deem as evil.

I like to think that Chris Engen was the evil one, and that MM is an actor who is so skilled in what he does, he can actually make ME see the good in him.

Sharon likes to see the good in everyone, and not the bad. Combine that with an undeniable chemistry, and there is a real love affair going on.

Forget the past.  I don't see as many posts about Phyllis trying to run down Paul and Christine, or finagling the DNA tests to try and prove that Daniel is really Danny's son, and other terrible things she has done.

The writers made a mistake in making the earlier Adam so terribly evil that alot of people still find him repulsive.

Anyone remember the horrible things Michael did to Christine?  I do not see any discussions about that, either.

I think they have a good balance with Adam, now.  Yes, he is not above unethical business tactics, but his one true love is Sharon. And, it is a REAL LOVE.  He would die before he would let anyone hurt her, and that includes himself.

Sorry, if alot do not agree, but he is a changed man.  Personally, I am glad that they did not do a complete change on his character, because I like his edge.  He is the one and only interesting character on this entire show, and I watch, only to see those two together - or just him, if he is on without Sharon.  I like trying to figure out what is going on in his head, and I wish they would make the other characters alittle more than the one-dimensional un-interesting people that they are.  Who do you really like to watch?  I cannot think of one character that is interesting - other than Adam - for whatever reason.

    Replies: (list all replies)

  • Amen DianeR. I watch Soaps for characters like Adam...twisted, complex, sexy and dark...because THANK GOD I do not have them in my real life. Frankly, people who watch soaps for characters like Traci Abbott make me scratch my head...Angelique
  • Actually Chris Engen left the show before Adam turned truly evil because he didn't want to play the part of evil Adam. All the evil stuff was played by MM. Doesn't matter to me because I liked them both. eom/K

Sharon, he told you your baby was dead and too deformed for you to see. He stole another babies ashes and told you they were Faith's.

  • Dr. Taylor told this to Sharon. Adam was blackmailking him so he had to cover the tracks of the baby switching
  • It was Adams idea and he forced him to tell this to Sharon. Dr. Taylor did not steal the dead babies ashes and tell Sharon it was her babies,Adam did.

I get that Sharon is supposed to be a character who tries to see the good in everyone but IMO they've gone to extremes with Adam, and also Victor.  I mean, forgive these guys, wish them well and all, but don't keep allowing them into your life!  IRL you'd think someone like Sharon, given everything she's been through, would be a lot more cynical, a lot more wary about the Adams and the Victors of this world, but soap characters never seem to learn.

  • I think that's exactly it, Peridot.

I very rarely enjoy a scene with Victor when he is telling someone else how to live their life but I loved yesterday's scene when he got so frustrated with Sharon.  Of course, talking to Sharon is like banging your head against a brick wall because it feels good when you stop.

As much as I like the character I can't believe what the writers have done to her. I'm glad she is getting air time as I would rather see her than some of the other bobbleheads like the old goat, Phyllis, and dumb-as-a-post Nick, but this turn of events is just plain disturbing. I don't mind the character of Adam because I like when he gets the old goat's dander up but it would be so much nicer to just see Adam and not with Sharon. I don't want the old goat to bring him back to the ranch and have Adam dependent on him again. And I certainly don't want Sharon to bring him back to her place. Oh where can he go?? The YMCA?

  • To his mother's old place in Kansas. With Sharon. So the writers have planned. Because that's what will probably happen. - Marilou
  • Funny....I wouldn't rather see Sharin more than ANY of the characters you mentioned. I'd rather see her OFF my screen, quite actually...SICK TO DEATH of her and her self righteous, hypocritical, ABSURD behavior and choices.

My sentiments exactly...........I used to like Sharon. I can't believe that they are using her to be his only ally. Wish they had paired him up with someone else. These two make me sick. I can't defend her actions anymore. I can't believe that she is doing all of this knowing dang well that she could lose Faith! I just do not get it.
