Genevieve admitted to Cane that she bought BON so that she could be her own person rather than becoming an adjunct to Jack ... frankly, I never saw her being overly malleable and acquiescent as far as Jack was concerned. She said she wanted to be strong and self-reliant rather than relying on a man for her sense of self worth ... does that sound like Nikki... didn't Nikki attempt to the very same thing vis-a-vis Victor when she ran for the senate, started up the spas etc [whatever happened with that anyway?]
I would love to see Nikki and Gen becoming friends and helping each other to be their own person while still being married to their respective loves. And maybe even Ash could figure in that relationship ... sort of as a mentor.

I can't speak about Gen because I don't pay much attention to her but Nikki having a female friend? That's never going to happen. Besides Katherine, who I think she sees as her mother really, Nikki isn't capable of having female friends. She's must too jealous of every female...she assumes every one of them is out to steal The Goat from her. Even when she's kind to another female, it rarely lasts. It's a short-term deal and usually involves Nikki needing something from that gal (their silence, a favor, whatever) at the time. Pretty soon, she's hurling accusations at them again, often at Crimson Lights.
Victoria seems equally suspicious and disinterested in other females in her orbit, too, at least initially. She seems capable of being friends with women but only after she has hated on them for a while (Mac, Chloe, etc.).
I like it when soaps balance all the backstabbing by showing characters being genuine friends. Y&R does more of that than some soaps, where main characters are shown for years without a true friend in the world. I like the mother-daughter relationship Katherine and Nikki. I like that Jill and Lauren became sisterly (despite the unnecessary re-write of history in making them sisters to begin with). I like seeing people get along. That way when the inevitable blow-ups happen, there's a reason to care.
All that said, I don't see Nikki and Gen being friends. Nikki's way too territorial with her exes for that. But I could definitely see Gen and Glo becoming friends. That could be a hoot!
I could see Gen buying BON just to be able to prove to men
that she doesn't need them. Colin really did a number
on her and I coul see her wanting to accomplish
something on her own. Too bad Jack wanted
BON himself. Maybe they could have worked
together. As for Jen and Nicki becoming
friends that will never happen.
Nicki is too much the society matron snob now.
