I know TPTB think Stacey Haiduk is the best actress of all time and are showcasing her plus she also "could not believe it" when she was let go and TPTB seem to want to atone for that. But in doing so the plot and character portrayal has become cartoonish but the writers seem to want to garner sympathy for Patty Cakes by having Pauly talk about their rides in the way back part of the stationwagon looking out at the other cars and Patty not taking Abby away but letting her escape, etc. But they combine this "humane" portrayal with having Patty hit people over the head, throw caustic substances and shooting firearms. Patty is also cartoonish now flitting here and there with light speed and being able to hide in a person's home so nobody will see her. I think in this regard she even outdoes Sheila Carter. I think it time to get rid of Patty for good, maybe kill her off and have 'Pauly' deliver a touching eulogy and that will be that. So far: Patty has: caused brain damage (which was temporary) in Summer, killed Zapato with poison, shot Victor so he needed a transplant, kidnapped Colleen which triggered events leading to her drowning death and now: blinded Adam, injured Jack, and injured t he delivery man (though apparently not as severely as Jack). I think Patty is a rather one note cartoon now and I think it is too little too late for the writers to try to make audiences feel sorry for her.

Other loathsome characters like Adam, Victor and Phyllis are really the same.. the difference is that they are not crazy (which means they KNOW what they are doing) and the writers do not want to punish those characters.
I just don't see much of a difference between what Patty has done and, say, Phyllis running down Cricket and Paul, or Adam's baby-switching, or a pamplet full of Victor's deeds.
Patty throwing acid in Adam's face was quite a horrendous thing, but aside from that, she is as dangerous as the other characters who are free to continually do their worst as they enjoy freedom to walk unchecked in society.
Those people who think Patty is something different from Adam, Victor or Phyllis really need to get the log out of their eye.
We're the ones who need the sympathy for having to go through another storyline with crazy Patty. One was enough in my opinion.
Stacy Haiduk is a very good actress and I've enjoyed her as Dr. Emily and would like to have seen her as the doctor in some good storylines, without Patty. I hate the thought of TPTB pulling another Sheila on us and having Patty return over and over again.
