Additional Comments: After this latest stint, I no longer think that Patty is crazy. I had stopped watching Y&R from somewhere around 2004 thru 2009. Seeing previews of Paul with some nutcase that had blond hair that looked like straw is one of the reasons I tuned in again. The other was Jana being kidnapped and locked in a cage. Anyway, I found Patty to be a nut job, but once she spotted that newspaper clip of Jacks wedding plans, she became very calculating and methodical. She carefully planned out how she was going to change it up and become Emily.
To put together a plan, such as the switch with Emily and to be so concise about it is remarkable and hardly the actions of a nut. I'm as sane as the day is long (or at least I think I am) and I could no more knock someone out, dye their hair, dye my own hair, escape from the place that I am confined to, while leaving that person there to rot and then go and be that person and live that persons life, for MONTHS ON END (some of that performance including intimacy with someone) and go completely undetected. Thats not the actions of a crazy person, thats the actions of a genius.
FINALLY, that mess caught up with her and we were ridded of this criminal for a few months.
But wait, Then she comes back to Genoa City acting as Gen's maid. Now, was she Gen's maid from the time Gen got that house? We only heard about her after the fire. I'm sure she was there long before that. Even after the fire, the woman was acting normal in the sense of carrying on as a full time live-in housekeeper, capable of keeping food in the house and organizing everyday activities of a wealthy person. That type of job keeps a person very busy, yet she was able to keep it together and garner praises for her work. Add to that the fact that she could set aside a part of her day to go and spy on whomever she either didn't like or whom she had a fatal attraction to. I don't know many nuts that could keep that up for as long as she did without breaking down at some point and getting caught at it.
But Patty could because Patty is not nuts. Patty is playing everyone.
Lets move on to Patty hitting Adam over the head and throwing something in his eyes. There are some people on the board that found humor in that, but I sure didn't find it funny. She did that out of meanness, not craziness and I find it inexcusable and she should be brought up on charges for it.
Then lets move on to Jack and the wedding. This criminal KNOWINGLY took the wedding dress that belonged to her TARGET"S soon to be wife. This criminal KNOWINGLY hurt a messenger man that was hired to deliver info regarding the wedding to her TARGET. This criminal KNOWINGLY dolled herself up in said wedding dress, packing a concealed weapon and disguising her face to not be stopped before she could march down the isle and shoot her TARGET.
Shooting Jack was premeditated and should Jack die, Patty should get the death penalty. As it stands, Patty should go on trial for attempted premeditated murder.
Lastly, the creepiest and coldest calculating actions of this freak come out every time her mayhem catches up with her. The goofy singing with Paul right there along side her. She can turn on nut mode the second that it works out to her favor and she can turn it off every bit as fast. She has Paul so snowed that it's pathetic. Obviously she has a lot of doctors snowed too. The woman isn't nuts though, she's a genius. But she's a criminal genius and needs to be treated as such.

Message: Though she may be suffering from mental illness to an extent I feel Patty is evil. Evil enough to poison a dog. Evil enough to harm a child. Evil enough to throw acid into a man's face. Evil enough to shoot the same man twice. And evil enough to commit other assorted crimes therefore I can't label Patty as some sort of innocent who didn't understand what she was doing. She knew full well what she was doing and ended up doing a lot of bad things to several people. Her first meeting with Victor was proof she had her head on straight. Straight enough to follow along with what Victor wanted her to do. Create havoc for Jack and sadly enough she decided that she wanted to do more bad deeds because there was no one to ground her into being decent once Victor got everything started.
Patty doesn't need treatment. She needs punishment. The way the show presents her I can't look at Patty as a helpless mentally unstable person who needs help but a dangerous and vile criminal who must atone for the crimes she has commited.

Message: Unfortunately I had slight experience with a relative of mine, who got drug induced paranoia and delusions. He heard voices and even threatened his parents. No one suspected anything like that.
It is not clear if he took drugs to self-medicate (which of course worsened things) or if it was drug induced. He now appears sane and and recognises how bad things got. We are crossing our fingers and hoping he keeps on his meds and stays away from drugs. Family support is very important and stress and pressure of certain sorts have to be avoided.
I don't expect that a soap like Y&R will represent this illness accurately, particularly as they are using it to make Patti a villain. So there is no point in trying to diagnose Patti's psychosis, however one could say that Adam's abberant behaviour also was evidence of serious psychological problems. When pushed he reverts to reacting viciously, like when he destroyed the memory card which could have saved Sharon.

Message: I agree with you. I'm not convinced Patty is really mentally ill. For months she was seemingly sane and functional as Myrna, plotting against Gen, knitting pillows with insights into GC's elite, all the while taking pains to conceal her identity. Her actions were careful, calculating, and deliberate. Then, she commits more crimes (to add to her already long list) and suddenly she's innocent, child like Patty. Personally, I think she turns it off and on.

Message: As far as Patty, she should never have been written to escape and if she ever did come back, it should have been years from now and maybe totally cured. I liked Patty before she killed Zapato and hurt Summer, but now she is totally irredeamable unless she is sent to a mental institution and it is actually shown she is better but even then, she has become not only dangerous but boring. As far as Emily is concerned, unless she is actually working and we see her with someone (like maybe Adam) and we forget Jack, Patty and all of the drama surrounding, Emily can stay gone too. If Stacy Haidik has to stay though I would like to see her actually working as a shrink.

Message: It would be a sad day if all mentally ill people were called evil. That belongs in the dark ages of man, I hope we have evolved from that.

Nuttycakes is nutty.
And if Jack had died, the most Nuttycakes could have received is life and no parole. Wisconsin has no death penalty.

Message: I've had enough of Patty. No, in my opinion, the word ''evil'' is not what Patty is. The woman is sick and I don't know how a doctor would diagnose a case like hers. I'm curious how one in real life would do that. Is she sick or is there something really wrong with her brain that can't be cured. Dr. P said she doesn't like to think she can't be cured. She doesn't believe it. I'm truly sorry to say I believe it. I could be mistaken but I'm curious and I'll ask a relative next week whose specialty is the brain.

Patty is purely crasy/saturated with craziness. I do not think she is evil.
Part of her psychotic behavior is her ability to plan, and CARRY OUT (mind you) these methodical crimes to harm and maim. Ever since it was allowed for her to poison and kill Zapato, I've loathed her, and want her gone.
All that being said, I don't know that I think she is evil. Us having to continue to watch "Patty" continue to be on this show as a character - AND to have this charactder be integral to a main s/ is evil.
