We have had topics on this board - and one was fairly recent - about our favorite childhood memory. Well, I was almost brought to tears tonight when a relative of mine sent me pics of mine. below are pictures of me when I was younger (couldn't have been more than 4 or 5) with my cousins Kim and Dee. The three of us are all the same age and grew up together at this camp in NH (Pine Knoll) every summer. Of course, we saw each other year round, but the majority of our memories are here.

My cousin's father send me these pics tonight....I have had hardly any pics of those days up until now (and now I just have these, along with maybe one or two more that my parents have), so receiving these was amazing. I am wishing I had a time machine so that I could go back to those days...

Here, the whole family used to hang in the center of all of our campsites. We practically used to OWN the whole campground the way we took over. That is my father standing in the maroon shirt. My mother is sitting next to him in the red shirt and white skirt. My grandmother is in back of us smoking away (she died of emphasema when she was only 58). I am on the far right. My cousin Dee ( we called her "Dee Dee" back then) is next to me. And my cousin Kim has her back to the camera in the long blonde hair:

Left - Right - The "Three Mooses," as my Great Grandfather called us - Kim, me and Dee:

Here's me in the front, smiling at the camera (you never see that these days, as now I run from the camera!). My cousin Kim standing behind the swing set. My cousin Jenn in the middle of us (she had spina bifida and died at the age of 33. She was Kim's sister) ,and my grammy who died in '79:

Dee, Kim and me at our favorite swingset - right in front of my grandmother's campsite. Check out the cars of the early '70s, LOL:

God I miss those days!!!!

Those pictures are adorable!  What cute kids.  My daughter emailed me asking for pictures of great grandparents.  Sadly the pictures I have are old, I could kick myself for not taking more pictures of them!  My granddaughter has school projects that require pictures of her family and it always makes me sad not to have more recent ones.   Anyway, enjoy yours!!!

  • Thanks, Deb! I know now I am taking as many pictures of my niece and nephew as possible so that they/we have them when they're older!........DebS

How very cool.  It is wonderful that you have those photos.  About three years after my grandmother died, my grandfather remarried a simply horrible woman.  She took it upon herself to throw out all the old photos of his family.  We did not know about it until he had died a few years later.

  • That's horrible of her to do that. I think I remember you posting about that once. Thankfully we have digital photos today, which are hard to just throw away. Too bad we didn't have those back in the day!.........DebS

Hi ... I know you don't know me, I'm mostly on the AMC Personals board, but pop in here from time to time... I love your childhood pix, memories, especially since they are camping!  I'm still a camper... loved seeing the tent and the camper in the background... like you, I also have wonderful childhood memories of cousins, camping, etc.  thanks for sharing these!

  • It was such a special time! I have not camped in ages and I would give anything to do it again. Unfortunatley, most in my circle of friends just aren't into it :(. Thanks for the comments!.........DebS

Many of our favorite childhood memories are also from when we used to go to New Hampshire in the summer. We used to go up near Littleton. One of my sisters takes her children up there nearly every year.

  • I love NH and ME! I don't know if I have ever been to LIttleton. This camp was (actually it's still there, just not the same as it used to be) in Albany, which is near Conway - about maybe 5 minutes from the Kangamangus (I know I spelled that wrong!) highway. Right at the base of Mt. Chocoura (another thing I know i mispelled), which my grandmother used to tell me was my mountain :-)........DebS

I can imagine your feelings when you got those. You are pretty darn cute. Maybe others in your family have more.

Photos are the most valuable thing in my house. Ironically I just looked at some home movies (16 mm!) of me and my brothers yesterday.

Thank you so much for sharing your adorable photos with us.

Aww, how great is that. Reminds me of our campground (the one we owned and sold recently) and all the kids having fun.  Great memories for you for sure. And weren't you just the cutest!

  • Thank you, Pronoun! Oh to own a campground like that. Then again, I'm sure there are tons of headaches that go along w/ that fun :-)............DebS
