I've never eaten at TGI Fridays or P.F. Changs. I'm sure there are others I haven't tried that just aren't in this area. My favorite is probably Chili's. I love their quesadilla explosion salad.

  • I forgot about Fridays. I did go to them as a kid but not since the 80s. eom/Joly

I've never eaten in Chilis or any other Mexican style restaurant's.  The all time worse one is Olive Garden.  I've gotten food poisioning there twice and my grandaughter and her friend went there later and both got food poisioing.  Has anyone here ever worked at an Olive Garden? What is it about the way they prepare/handle their food that makes it so prone to bacterial contamination?

I guess I've tried most all of them at one time or another.  I don't care for several of them -- Applebee's, Ruby Tuesday, and TGI Fridays -- to name a few.  But when you're traveling down a strange highway, starving, and you see a TGIF you might risk it because you know what to expect.  I do enjoy the Olive Garden.

  • The Applebee's where I currently live is hit-or-miss. Their steaks are awful, to be honest. eom/Joly

    Cracker Barrel.

  • I can't stand CB! Everyone that I ever travel with always wants to stop there, but I think it is so commercial, and I really don't think the food is that good. ~katiesbeach
  • It really ain't all that good, in my opinion. But when you're traveling Up North for an extended period of time and haven't found anything fit to eat -- such as okra, turnip greens, black-eyed peas, and green beans -- it's about the only option. When I'm home in the South, I practically NEVER go to a CB, but when I'm in Illinois, Indiana, or Ohio, I'm a regular ... Ricky
  • Last year for New Year's Eve/Day we drove all the way from California to Utah with some friends to eat black-eyed peas at a Cracker Barrel (something about good fortune all year if you eat them on New Year's Day..?!). Well..we went there for some sightseeing and stuff, too .. but the Cracker Barrel was the main attraction. I liked the food .. and now I find myself wishing they'd open one up in California! ..........................Marie
  • I actually like Cracker Barrel! Their green beans are to die for! Their pot roast can be sliced with a fork! Yum! eom/Joly
  • I got furious at Cracker Barrel in the early nineties when they refused to hire gays. I haven't gotten over it and don't plan to try. I'll never step foot into one of their restaurants. //SqueezeMe

Outback is one we have never eaten in. I prefer home owned local places to chains.

  • Local restaurants can be great places to eat, like our local pub. Good food and so clean. And smoke free! eom/Joly

We've never eaten at Olive Garden.  Mr. P and I tried years ago when they first opened around here but the wait was so long we decided to go elsewhere.  One of our nieces used to work at Olive Garden and got food poisoning there twice, so we haven't been motivated to try it again.

  • Food poisoning is a very good reason to stop going. LOL. Not that food poisoning is funny, but where is your health dept.?
  • This is a restaurant in western MA, not sure what, if anything, happened with the Dept. of Health. - Peridot
  • When I lived in Indiana a Cheeseburgers In Paradise gave several food poisoning. Nothing happened to the place. eom/Joly

The Outback is very good.  Their steaks (filet in particular) are awesome.  I've been to several in several different states and they do maintain their quality.

Even though I have dined there, I can't stand P.F. Changs.  Yuck.  I'm also not a fan of Applebee's or TGI Fridays.

I love the Olive Garden.  Love Ruth Chris' and also really like Chilis.

Chains that I have no interest in dining in are the low end steak houses like Golden Corral.

  • We like Ruth CHris', also. If you're ever in Macon and can spare the time for a really good dinner, there's an excellent place, Natalia's, close to an exit of I75. Very enjoyable food !!
  • I've never been to a Ruth Chris's Steakhouse. Last night a FB friend posted a pic of her friends eating at one. Waaaaaa! :( eom/Jo
  • I've heard Natalia's is very good. Maybe one day I can get a guy to take me on a date there. :) ~sunny~
