I'd been wanting to see this movie .. but it seemed to never be in any theaters near us, so I sort of forgot about it. Then after watching it take the Best Movie and Best Actor awards at the Golden Globes last night .. my curiosity was rekindled and we sought it out today.
It's a very good movie...full of captivating performances and gorgeous Hawaiian scenery. George Clooney (poor fella, so unattractive...lol) plays the bewildered father/husband perfectly. There's a good dose of vulgar language (which normally irritates me in movies .. why do I want to pay good money to listen to that?!?) but in this particular movie it was comical at times, and almost necessary...to convey their anger/resentment/etc.
All in all, I really enjoyed it. Also saw ''We Bought A Zoo'' last week .. two thumbs up on that one as well!

Mr. Ingy and I have been on a tear lately with movies. Since the holidays we've seen:
The Help - very entertaining, some great acting
The Ides of March - anything with Clooney is worth seeing; he is very good at choosing material.
J. Edgar - aside from the cheesy aging makeup, it was very good. But this kind of movie (like Frost/Nixon) is an acquired taste and not for everyone.
Midnight in Paris - another fun Woody Allen romp. Reminded me of The Purple Rose of Cairo. The actor (Tom Hiddleston) with whom I had my scenes in The Avengers is in this film (as F. Scott Fitzgerald) as well as War Horse (I think he plays a general or military officer).
The Descendants - another fine GC vehicle, really shows his acting range in this picture.
Hugo - fun and unique, cute story. See it in 3D.
The Artist - something completely different. Superb acting all around. A take-off on films of the 20s & 30s -- Nick & Nora meets Fred & Ginger on Sunset Boulevard. Shot entirely in black & white, almost completely silent. I'm amazed this film ever got made in this day and age. Wow!
(Mr. Ingy also saw Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, but I opted out)
Next on our list:
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
W.E.
The Iron Lady
I've heard good things about War Horse but I'm going to skip it. I know myself -- I'd be a nervous wreck worrying about the horse the whole time.
