I had to take Forrest, my old gorgeous old Border Collie to the vet this morning. He is in doggie hospital for the day.

The vet mentioned the "C" word.........

My heart goes out to you, Blinky. I lost my yellow Lab last year, age 15, so I know how alone you feel when you come back to an empty house and the food and water bowls still on the floor. I know Goldens are susceptible to cancer, and I know that most breeds have some weakness or other, but I don't know what it is for Border Collies. Wishing you all the best and hoping that he may pull through, I know you won't let him suffer.

He is almost 13 OLDTIMER. Which for a Border Collie is pretty good, but then he hasn't been a working dog just a pampered dog!! ~Aussie B

UPDATE............

It's cancer.

The vet said that he is in really good shape for an old fella, so if it hasn't spread and is only in the node then he has a chance.

I know how you feel...have been there more times than I want to remember...prayers are sent for you and for him for a good outcome. Please keep us posted..

Sometime the Dr mentions every possibility. There is a chance it could be something else. I hope so. Of course I will be sending positive thoughts prayers and everything possible your way.

Thanks Silva. He is my buddy. I've been through a lot this year and sometimes when I've been sad, he will just come up to me and rest his head on my knee and look up at me with his big brown eyes as if to say, ''You'll be ok, I'm here''..........~Aussie B

God of healing, please comfort and strengthen Forrest during his illness. Ease his fear and pain, and guide the vet and all caring for him, that he may recover fully.
